I just have to show..My husband built an eigth-string guitar about 6 months ago, out of just wood. The only thing he didn't build from scratch was the metalparts, but he did braze the electric stuff himself. The guitar is fantastic and the sound is amazing.

I think your referring to polyrhythms. That certainly does remind me of Thordendal custom 8-string, but the 540pII body is just beautiful. Its a beautiful guitar. Seen a few custom 540's over at ss.org but not a 8-string. Magnificent!
